Starter Fluid was born out of the founders' unique experience in both consumer products and venture capital. Our goal is to help turn Makers into full-fledged CPG companies.
Seed stage CPG companies have very unique funding needs. While they may not be ready for traditional bank financing or venture capital, they nonetheless need funds for raw materials, WIP inventory, and finished goods.
Starter Fluid works in a very specific niche of the finance world. We provide materials and inventory debt financing to very early stage companies. We also assist companies in building their production and financial models (been there, done that) and help set them up for subsequent bank or VC financing.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
Our sweet spot is companies that are typically told "You're too early for us" by a bank. Here's what a SF portfolio company looks like:

ROBERT VON GOEBEN
The Starter Fluid model comes from Robert's experience in venture capital and consumer products. His full bio is here, but in short... Robert is an ex-record company executive with Geffen Records, a successful Silicon Valley venture capitalist through the late 90's and early 00's, and the founder/CEO of Green Toys, a pioneering sustainable CPG company which he exited from in 2017. The current Starter Fluid fund emerged from his experience self-funding the explosive growth of Green Toys without venture capital.
